Summer Sports
During the final term, a special programme of Summer Sports – Sports in the Park – is arranged for children in 4th, 5th and 6th Classes on Wednesday afternoons, 2.45 p.m. until 3.45 p.m., at Marlay Park.
The programme, which includes cricket, rounders and athletics, costs €80 per pupil to cover the cost of the venue hire, coaches and referees.
Summer Sports may be cancelled if the weather is too bad to play - if so the Sports Committee will notify participants via class WhatsApp group., so please check the newsflash function of this website approximately one hour before the scheduled start time if this is the case. If you are car-pooling with other parents, please ensure that the children know the arrangements in the event of cancellations.
Requirements
If your child is participating in Summer Sports, you (or another designated adult) should be present for the entire session while it is taking place. Coaches cannot take children to the toilet for child protection reasons. It is also important that you or a designated adult is available in case your child becomes upset, hurt or injured.
Summer Sports lasts for one hour – please ensure your child is supervised before and after the session as school insurance does not cover the children during these times, and that he / she is collected promptly.
